Valhalla Tahoe’s days on the green rock.

Achilles Wheel performed the second of five summertime shows on the Grand Lawn on Wednesday. Friends and families danced and played on the grass to the jammy sounds of the Placerville-based band, which performed together for the first time in a year.

The tables for the remaining three shows are sold out, but the rest of the lawn is free and open to the public. The Covid-19 crisis kindled extra outdoor shows for Valhalla Tahoe. However, this week two Boathouse Theatre shows were added to the summer program.

Loud as Folk, a songwriter showcase, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, and a comedy show featuring Penn & Teller protégé Matt Donnelly will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15.

Meanwhile, music on the Grand Lawn continues next Wednesday, July 28, at 4:30 p.m. with Tom Rhodes.

The musician has been compared to Jackson Browne and Ray LaMontagne. He has released five albums and two EPs.
