Bluesdays would like to call back the Laurie Morvan Band to the stand.
When Morvan first appeared in The Village of Palisades, she testified to play the blues, her own blues and nothing but the blues.
A true blues player, Morvan was at ease in the assignment, so comfortable that she left the bandstand to personally deliver her message. She was not out of order, but it was out of the ordinary when she stood upon a spectator’s armchair and played guitar solo.
It was unusually brisk in Olympic Valley for a July day, but the music was hot. Just after sunset, 400 or so witnesses came to a unanimous verdict and called the Laurie Morvan Band back to the stage for an encore. It was the Southern California band’s Bluesdays debut. It will be back.
Now the Laurie Morvan Band is on the road, en route to a Canadian tour.
Next up for Bluesdays on July 12 will be longtime favorite Terry Hanck.
