2024’s annual Woollystar Music Festival was a very special, intimate weekend full of live music, film, yoga and camping. It was held in a magical location at Woollystar Ranch in Markleeville, California and set the tone for a weekend of good vibes and lots of  music from many different genres.

Opening the festival with mellow harmonies was Carolyn Dolan & Mark Wilson, Woollystar’s single intimate mountain stage bounced from Wolf Jett’s cosmic mountain music, to the alternative indie rock from Vetiver performed with the group’s wondrous  harmonies that closed the evening on Friday. There was something fun for everyone to  enjoy.

The family friendly festival brought attendees with young children sharing the campground and fest grounds with groups of  people from as far away as Santa Cruz, Bolinas and even visitors from the East Coast. The camping area was in a beautiful green canyon, next to a flowing river with many  wildflowers in bloom, overlooking the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Mornings started with an optional yoga session, followed with live music at  the main stage. On Friday evening following the day’s music, the movie “Finding Lucinda “, was shown, starring the festival’s  founder, Avery Hellman. The movie’s namesake and storeyline was based on the life story of Lucinda Williams.

Artists taking the stage on Saturday included Night Birds, Kacey Johansing, Ismay, Kacie Hill, Stella Heath Quartet, Lily Hiatt and concluded with Skyway Man.

Woollystar created an incredible summer weekend celebrating the summer solstice, with very special  talented musicians all performing their own original music for the audience. The unique voices and creativity beneath the mountainous setting, combined with the intimacy and positivity shared by those attending contribute to create the magical character of Woollystar.
