Reno’s Off Beat Music Festival features concerts Nov. 5-8 in Whitney Peak Hotel’s Cargo, including Handmouth, Diego’s Umbrella, Con Brio, Mojo Green, Moondog Matinee

Off Beat Arts & Music Festival, a new Reno citywide event will be Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 5-8,  and will showcase Northern Nevada’s growing music, art and culinary scenes. The Whitney Peak Hotel will host concerts in its music venue Cargo throughout the event. Among those scheduled to appear at Cargo are Handmouth, Diego’s Umbrella and Con Brio.

“As Reno’s first non-smoking, non-gaming luxury hotel, Whitney Peak is used to doing things a little differently,” said managing director Niki Gross said in a press statement. “We are proud to partner with other change agents, particularly when it comes to supporting the killer music, arts and food scenes in Northern Nevada that are so much a part of our community’s – and our hotel’s – brand identity.”

In addition to sponsoring local festivals and underwriting public art, the hotel has been a major driver in elevating the music scene in Reno through its Cargo concert hall, which attracts a broad range of national and international touring artists. Cargo also celebrates and encourages local artists through its Cargo Locals Series, which spotlights local musicians, providing them a stage to share their art with the local community.

“Whitney Peak and Cargo have proven that they are on the cutting edge of changing the landscape for hospitality and music in Reno,” said Off Beat co-organizer Flip Wright. “They are consistently bringing new and exciting music to our area, and it made perfect sense for Cargo to showcase such a great line-up of musicians.”

  • Soft White Sixties
  • Saddle Tramps
