Old school hip-hop: Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam

Sir Mix-A-Lot is one of the headliners at Sacramento’s Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam on March 5.

For those into old school hip-hop and throwback party music, Sacramento radio station V101.1 has been throwing annual concerts putting a variety of the 1990s best known acts on stage for an energetic playlist of those songs that take us right back to the era.

On Saturday, March 5, V101.1 will be bring its Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam to downtown Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center arena, with a lineup reminiscent of school dances and car radio singalongs from the past.

Stevie B (“Spring Love,” “I Wanna Be The One,” “In My Eyes”) will be headlining the event, with Lisa Lisa (“All Cried Out,” “I Wonder If I Take You Home”), Exposé (“Point Of No Return,” “Come Go With Me”), Sir Mix-A-Lot (“Baby Got Back,” “Posse On Broadway”), and Montell Jordan (“This Is How We Do It”), and several others all hitting the stage.

The lineup reads like a who’s who of your younger years, and if V101.1’s past shows are any indication, the catchiness and upbeat dance grooves will have the arena out of their seats and moving throughout the night.
