Solar Flora’s “if you want to” EP gives a slow burn of dreamy C86 bedroom pop

August 2025

Since we stumbled across the music of Solar Flora, we’ve been hitting the repeat button on this Lake Tahoe four piece’s dreamy shoegaze-esque songs.

The group’s five song EP, if you want to captures a wistful lo-fi sense of bedroom pop, along the lines of the C86 or Sarah Records bands of the past. Hushed vocals softly spoken in tone with the music, and the melodies and fuzzed guitars are able to weave through a moody catchiness.

The stand out song on here is definitely “Lush Girl” which ambles through a borderline jangly sound with soft vocals evocative of Veruca Salt’s Louise Post. Solar Flora have caught that combination of simplicity and emotion in a way far better than many other young projects.

if you want to is currently streaming on Apple Music and Spotify and the group can be followed on Instagram.

Solar Flora will be performing at the Holland Project in Reno on Wednesday, August 13th with Bug Bath, Next Question and Angel Band. More info can be found here.
