Acclaimed rock ‘n’ roll singer-songwriter Reid Genauer (Assembly of Dust, Strangefolk) has released a new song and video, “Angels and Alibis,” which is the title track of his forthcoming third solo album.
The song and album are produced by Greg Loiacono (The Mother Hips, Green Leaf Rustlers, Sensations) and engineered/mixed by Scott Hirsch (Hiss Golden Messenger Bill Frisell). The lineup is as follows – Reid Genauer (vocals & act guitar), Greg Loiacono (guitars, vocals), Brian Rashap (bass), Danny Eisenberg (keys) and Jim Bogios (drums).
Building off their winning combination with Greg Loiacono’s own “Mystic Traces” record, Loiacono proves again to be a master arranger with a smorgasbord of ear candy sprinkled throughout the track by the accompanying ensemble. Hirsch deftly engineers a polished-but-far-from-slick mix, showcasing precisely dialed in tones for every instrument along with their rightful homes carved out in the sound field. Genauer’s esoteric storytelling then pulls you in a little bit closer: “Dreamers don’t need deadlines, don’t need jet airlines to fly, when angels and alibis are walking by their side.” It makes for an intriguing combination that leaves you digging into the song multiple times to realize all of its nuances.
This will be a monthly rolling album release via Genauer’s Patreon account. For more info, follow www.reidgenauer.com. I look forward to hearing the rest of this record!
