The Old 97’s will appear at 8 p.m. Monday, March 27, in the Cargo Concert Hall in downtown Reno. Tickets are $15 and $20. The show is for concertgoers 18 and older.
An alternative country band, the Old 97’s were a popular Dallas bar band until the 1994 release of a breakout album, “Hitchhike to Rhome.” It signed with Bloodshot Records. It now has 11 studio albums, a live record and a devout nationwide fan base. Led by singer-guitarist Rhett Miller, the Old 97’s are popular for its fun live shows. It is among the alt-country genre that includes Drive-By Truckers, Uncle Tupelo, Whiskeytown, The Bottle Rockets and The Jayhawks.
