DESCRIPTION:Madchild from Swollen Members appears Sunday\, March 6\, in the Lakeview Loft at Stateline. \nPress: \nMadchild of Vancouver based Swollen Members\, was on a kamikaze run with the drug oxycontin (a synthetic substance similar to heroin) that had pushed him to the brink of oblivion. His left arm was completely numb\, his lips had turned purple\, and he was standing on death’s’ doorstep as his body finally gave up from four and a half straight years of opiate abuse. Madchild’s family panicked and immediately rushed him to emergency room in a race against the clock. \nAfter successfully battling for his life that night\, Madchild had finally hit rock bottom. His drug addiction had spiraled out of control and destroyed everything the successful emcee had worked so hard to build with his platinum selling hip-hop group Swollen Members. The fancy cars\, lavish houses and rock star luxuries were all gone\, as his addiction had consumed over 3 million dollars worth of assets and finances in just over four years. Throughout the next year as he struggled to take back his life from prescription pills\, Madchild discovered his personal sanctuary in the arms of his music. \nClean from drugs for the first time in his adult life\, Madchild removed himself from temptation by walking away from his previous social life and bunkering down in his home studio secluded from the outside world. For the next 10 months\, Madchild feverishly wrote and recorded his first ever solo album “Dope Sick”. \n“Dope Sick” was inspired by Madchild’s battle with addiction and offers fans an open look at the cold realities of drug abuse. The album shows Madchild back on the top of his game spitting venom like a caged beast on everything from his addiction and his recent ban from the United States\, to the current state of hip-hop. \nNot only is “Dope Sick” a story of triumph over adversity\, but it has allowed Madchild to be reborn creatively. Unshackled from the chains of his past indiscretions\, Madchild has confronted his darkest demons and used them as a source of inspiration to create one of the most insanely captivating hip-hop releases of 2012.

General admission\, $49.50. \n \nPsychedelic jam and string band String Cheese Incident is Reno-bound\, opening its March Madness 2016 Tour on Thursday\, March 10\, in the Summit Pavilion in the Grand Sierra Resort. \nHailing from Crested Butte and Telluride\, Colorado\, String Cheese Incident is Michael Kang (mandolin\, guitar)\, Michael Travis (drums\, percussion)\, Bill Nershi (guitar)\, Kyle Hollingsworth (keys\, accordion) and Keith Moseley (bass). \nA long-running and prominent fixture on the music festival scene\, String Cheese Incident first came together in 1993. Initially setting out with independent record label SCI Fidelity\, the band released its debut “Born On the Wrong Planet” in 1996 and “Round the Wheel” in 1998. \nIn 2001\, SCI hooked up with famed producer and Los Lobos’ multi-instrumentalist Steve Berlin to release “Outside Inside\,” a departure from the band’s bluegrass roots into more mainstream\, rock-based territory. \nString Cheese Incident is a festival favorite\, having headlined events such as the High Sierra Music Festival\, Bonnaroo\, Austin City Limits\, 10\,000 Lakes Festival and many more. \nWhile the group went on hiatus in 2006\, it was back in action by 2007\, playing at least a handful of shows each year at festivals across the country. 2014’s “A Song in My Head” marked its sixth studio album. \nString Cheese Incident has played with a wide variety of musicians over the years\, everyone from Bob Weir to Keller Williams\, from the Motet to electronica artist Skrillex. The members all pursue various side projects\, such as the Emmitt-Nershi Band (co-featuring Leftover Salmon’s Drew Emmitt). \nThe group is known for wildly psychedelic stage shows\, and extended jams covering a far-reaching panoply of musical genres. DESCRIPTION:FNCTN returns to the scene Thursday with live music\, live artists\, raffle prizes\, and a ski town vibe. \nMark MacKay Band headlines this March show with one part blues rocker / one part country picker that knows how to take control of a crowd. Local “family band” from Lake Tahoe’s west shore\, The Roemers\, will kick off the music with original blues and funk along with classic rock covers. Plus\, Lakeview Loft’s Nevada location\, allows a special guest DJ to keep the dance moves going until 4 a.m. \n“Mark MacKay has a true knack for getting the crowd moving with his mix of bluesy rock and country\,” States Mike Peron of FNCTN. “He was recently voted as Top 100 Live Acts in 2015 by Music Connection Magazine and has a special place in his heart for Tahoe\, so this will no doubt be a blast!” \nDoors open at 8 p.m. with music beginning at 9 p.m. Admission will be $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
