Six restaurants and five bands will go head-to-head from 6-10 p.m. in The Village at Squaw Valley to benefit the Tahoe Institute for Natural Sciences. Each restaurant will be cooking their own signature recipes for spicy\, flavor-packed chicken wings\, and joining forces with the region’s best bands to crank the contest to the max. \nChicken and music lovers are not going to want to miss a single stop on this around-the-valley face-off. Restaurant and music pairings are listed below. \nGroup A: Bands perform from 6-7 p.m. and 8-9 p.m.\nCoburn Station at Fireside Pizza\nDrop Theory at Twenty-Two Bistro\nMatt Reardon & Friends at Mamasake \nGroup B: Bands perform from 7-8 p.m. and 9-10 p.m.\nA Surprise Band at Rocker@Squaw\nElectric Jimmy at The Auld Dubliner \nEntry is a $5 donation to enjoy the wing and drink specials\, as well as the opportunity to pick the winners. DESCRIPTION:The mix of artists who will play at the Sept. 19 Whitney Peak Hotel’s Under The Arch might seem unusual\, but it isn’t when you consider who put it together. \n“This is what we have become known for\,” Brent Harding of Devil Dog Productions said. “We put together a not-your-average concert bill.” \n \nWith the passing of B.B. King\, Buddy Guy now undeniably is the best-known living bluesman. G Love & Special Sauce is a roots-hip-hop band and Todd Snider is a charismatic storytelling song man. \n“(Under The Arch) embraces different genres yet attracts the same people\,” Harding said. “People I see at a Buddy Guy show are the same people I see at a Todd Snider show and a lot of the same people I see at G Love shows. I think the variety is going to make for a festival type atmosphere yet it will be one big show on one stage.” \nTickets went on sale May 29 for Whitney Peak Hotel’s first outdoor show on the ReTrac across the street from the entrance of Cargo\, the venue for the after-party band which will be announce on July 11. The ReTrac will hold 3\,000 concertgoers. Harding said it is the biggest show he has put on in the area. Devil Dog Productions also secured the music for the Crystal Bay Casino and various shows at Squaw Valley\, including Bluesdays and the Brews\, Jazz and Funk Fest. \n“When you see who will play the after-party\, you will see why this is the biggest thing I’ve done\,” Harding said. “It’s significant. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag. I can’t announce it but it is confirmed and I am probably as excited about it as I am the headliner. DESCRIPTION:Organized by the Tahoe Arts Project\, TRIBE-olution\, a Seattle-based collaboration of acclaimed break dancers\, Capoeiristas\, African dancers\, and musicians\, will bring their dance theatre show “Parallels in Motion: From the Village to the Streets” to South Lake Tahoe’s MontBleu Theatre.  With elements of dance\, martial arts\, and music\, the performance will explore cross-cultural connections from Africa\, to Brazil\, to the inner cities of the U.S. where hip hop was born.  Hosted by international DJ/MC/b-boy Justin Murta\, the hourlong performance will occur on Sept.25 starting at 7 p.m.\, followed by a “Meet & Greet” session with the performers. This will be TRIBE-olution’s premiere of the show near California\, sponsored by Tahoe Arts Project and MontBleu Theatre. \n“Parallels in Motion” explores the roots of hip hop dance in traditional cultural performing arts in a series of dance scenes set in different locations in the U.S.\, Africa\, and Brazil with flash-backs and flash-forward transitions between scenes.  DJ mixes and live music propel the dancers through free-style movements and choreography developed by the ensemble and Terrance Guillermo\, a co-founder of  world champion b-boy crew Massive Monkees. \nTRIBE-olution features b-boys Jsqwerl of Massive Monkees and Blazii and Sammy of Dogg Pound; Professor Fabricio and Coty Valdez of Fabrico Capoeira and Capoeira Malês; traditional cultural dancers and drummers Dora Oliveira (Brazil)\, Manimou Camara (Guinea)\, and Awal Alhassan (Ghana); and members of the award-winning hip hop soul band Global Heat including Justin Murta and vocalist/bassist/drummer Marvin Shields Jr. \nTRIBE-olution’s show has been in preparation for almost a year\, building on a “Roots of Hip-Hop” show staged at Seattle’s Intiman Playhouse in 2012 and “Parallels in Motion” which was a featured event at the 2015 Northwest Folklife Festival. TRIBE-olution’s director\, Rob Pastorok\, is a keyboardist\, producer\, owner of Deep Well Studio\, and the recipient of a 2014 Artists Trust award and funding from 4Culture\, Global Artists Collective\, and others.
