The quality of free music here continues to amaze.
A talented R&B and rock band, Tracorum plays Saturday night in the Crystal Bay Casino Red Room.
Band leader Fletcher Nielsen wrote all of the songs on the San Francisco band’s third studio album, “Tricked,” released in January.
Bassist Mark Calderon also plays with Zigaboo Modeliste, the pioneering funk guitarist for the Meters. South African native Ian Herman also performs with the Mickey Hart Band, Hugh Masekela and Vusi Mahlasela. Derek Brooker plays electric guitar.
“Tricked” was recorded by Timin Murray at Prairie Sun Studios and mastered by Jon Cuniberti.
The band released “Rock n Soul” in 2006 and in 2011 “The Lesson,” which included the radio single “Break the Chains.”
Tracorum has shared the stage the Robert Randolph Family Band, Bill Kreutzmann 7 Walkers, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Mickey Hart Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Umphrees, Trombone Shorty, Ivan Neville Dumpstafunk and ALO.
It performed at the 2011 High Sierra Music Festival and will be at the Oct. 24-27 Hangtown Halloween Ball.
